The Public Institution Pelister National Park has taken a major step forward in modernizing its nature conservation and environmental protection systems. By deploying 40 new trail cameras across 40 strategic locations, the park has established a comprehensive video monitoring network dedicated to scientific research and field security.

The new monitoring equipment has been strategically positioned at key points across the entire park region, ensuring coverage of diverse ecosystems and altitudes:
- Nižepole
- Pelister (High-mountain region)
- Capari
- Vrtuška
- Brajčino
Key Objectives of the Monitoring System
The application of this advanced technology serves multiple vital purposes for preserving the park’s biodiversity:
- Wildlife Tracking: Detailed study of animal behavior, movement patterns, and population density estimates.
- Focus on Key Species: Targeted monitoring of the brown bear, chamois, wolf, lynx, wild boar, and roe deer – essential bioindicators of ecosystem health.
- Habitat Preservation: Continuous observation of rare Molika pine forests, glacial lakes (“Pelister’s Eyes”), stone rivers, endemic flora, and trout-inhabited water streams.
- Threat Detection: Early detection of illegal activities and prevention of actions harmful to the natural environment.

In addition to its scientific value, the system plays a crucial role in field security and crime prevention. All camera data relevant to safety and law enforcement within the boundaries of Pelister National Park will be directly accessible to the SVR Bitola (Sector for Internal Affairs).
