Pelister National Park has begun installing new, modern-designed information boards. This initiative aims to enhance the visitor experience while promoting the ecological, historical, and cultural significance of the five-needled Molika Pine (Pinus peuce), also known as the Macedonian Pine.
Phased Rollout
The installation of the new educational and directional signage is carried out in phases:
- Initial Phase: The first batch of boards has been placed in the park’s most visited zone.
- Upcoming Phase: Using the same updated design language, new signage will be installed along hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the park.
A Living Museum Since 1839
First discovered on Baba Mountain in 1839, the Macedonian Pine has served as a defining natural symbol for nearly two centuries. It highlights Pelister National Park as a living museum of rich biodiversity, heritage, and the enduring bond between the local community and the surrounding natural environment.
These new boards will allow hikers and travelers to better understand the unique characteristics and conservation value of this endemic pine species during their visit.
