On August 9, 2025, Pelister National Park hosted one of the boldest cultural projects ever – the performance of a psychological and philosophical drama at one of the highest points of Baba Mountain.
Art That Crosses Boundaries
“The Night I Killed the Moon,” directed by Marjan Georgievski, is not just a play, but a journey through the existential themes of loneliness and freedom. Performing at this altitude, where the air is thin and the silence is deep, allowed the audience to feel every line with a new intensity.
Logistical Challenge and Organization
Organizing such an event at 2,218 meters above sea level required precise preparation:

Access: Visitors arrived via a 15 km off-road track or by hiking from the village of Niže Pole via Debel Rid.

Safety: Due to specific conditions and a ban on movement in the forest, the event had a strictly limited number of visitors and mandatory prior registration.

Conditions: The audience was prepared with mountaineering gear for temperatures between 11–13°C, bringing headlamps and warm clothing.
Lasting Values
This event proved that Pelister is not just a place for recreation, but a powerful catalyst for top-tier art. The stage at Golemo Ezero set new standards for how natural heritage can be utilized in the promotion of culture.
