On August 16, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM, a coordinated rescue operation was launched following a call regarding an injured hiker in the high-altitude zone of Pelister National Park, near Malo Ezero (Small Lake).
Operation Details and Evacuation Progress
The joint operation involved teams from Pelister National Park, the Crisis Management Center (CMC), the Protection and Rescue Directorate (SSM), and the Emergency Medical Services:
- Location and First Aid: The injured person was promptly located. Following the assessment of severe lower-left leg injuries, SSM rescue teams administered immediate first aid on-site.
- Transport Logistics: The Pelister NP team, alongside an emergency room physician, secured and managed the transport of the injured hiker from Malo Ezero down to the Park Info Centre.
- Hospital Transfer: The individual was successfully evacuated and safely transported to the Bitola Clinical Hospital for further medical treatment.
