From May 4 to 16, Pelister National Park hosted experts from the Bat Research and Conservation Association from Germany. This significant research initiative, which also encompassed Galicica National Park and the Prespa region, served as an exceptional foundation for educating young minds.
Practical Science at the “Begova Česhma” Locality
In cooperation with Galicica National Park, we organized an educational event highlighting the biology and ecology of these fascinating nocturnal residents. The most exciting part was the practical fieldwork at the “Begova Česhma” locality, where four specialized nets were set up for catching bats.
High School Students in the Role of Scientists
Students from the high schools OSMU “Dr. Jovan Kalauzi” and SOU “Taki Daskalo” from Bitola had a rare opportunity to directly participate in the netting method. This hands-on experience allowed them to see modern research techniques up close and better understand the critical role bats play in maintaining ecological balance.
