A circular trail with a strong historical component that follows the course of the Sapuncica River and utilizes infrastructure remaining from World War I to access Golemo Ezero (Big Lake).

Detailed Trail Description

Start from Ski Center Strezevo:

The start is located near the Strezevo ski center close to Nizhe Pole (1,360 m). The first 15 minutes follow a wide macadam road.

Sapuncica River and Orlovi Bari:

The trail enters a Molika pine forest and runs parallel to the Sapuncica River. The route passes by “Orlovi Bari” (Eagle Ponds), a seasonal lake formed by melting snow that hydrologically persists until July or August.

French Road:

After Orlovi Bari, movement continues along the so-called “French Road” – a paved military road built by French troops during World War I. Remnants of military trenches and bunkers are visible along this segment.

Cirque of Golemo Ezero:

The trail enters the glacial cirque where Golemo Ezero is situated. The return can be made along the same route or via the “Debel Rid” trail, forming a circular tour back toward Strezevo.
