Pelister National Park, in close collaboration with the local community, has completed Phase 2 of the infrastructure development project at the Sv. Spas site, located at an elevation of 1,920 meters above Malovista village.
Field Logistics and Operational Progress
Despite taking place over the weekend, field operations began at 05:00 AM to navigate the demanding terrain:
- Mountain Logistics: Due to steep slopes and narrow alpine trails, all construction supplies, timber, and equipment were transported using pack horses and manual carry.
- Facility Installation: With the completion of this second phase, the planned modular shelter is nearing completion. A final third phase will fully commission the structure for use.
- Dual Infrastructure Purpose: The new facility will serve both park visitors and hiking enthusiasts, as well as ranger services conducting wildlife monitoring and conservation patrols across the sector.
Community Partnership
Executing infrastructure projects at high altitudes presents unique operational challenges. The joint effort between Pelister NP staff and local villagers underscores a shared commitment to improving park amenities while safeguarding Mount Baba’s natural ecosystem.
