The Director of the Agency for Financial Support in Agriculture and Rural Development (AFSARD), Daniela Irotova Lazareva, and the Director of Pelister National Park, Ivanco Tosevski, have signed an official agreement securing direct institutional funding for the protection, management, and sustainable development of the park.
This milestone agreement comes at a critical time, establishing the foundation for major infrastructure and conservation projects that will shape the future development of Pelister National Park.
Allocation of Funds
In accordance with the Nature Protection Program, the Pelister NP Management Plan, and the national budget, allocated funds will be dedicated strictly to:
- Biodiversity Conservation: Protecting natural heritage assets and carrying out systematic monitoring of native species and habitats.
- Fire Prevention & Infrastructure: Enhancing forest fire prevention systems and improving green infrastructure across the park.
- Trail Networks & Eco-Tourism: Upgrading and maintaining hiking trails, access infrastructure, and sustainable eco-tourism services.
- Operational Capacity & Education: Purchasing specialized field equipment, rehabilitating key park facilities, and executing public environmental awareness campaigns.
This historic backing strengthens inter-institutional cooperation focused on the long-term protection and sustainable management of Mount Baba.
